Our FlapstopperTM pollution and firewater containment systems can be found at work in a variety of spill, firewater, and flood protection applications providing 24/7/365 protection from surface water spills across the UK. 

 

For curved wall chambers, our inlet mounted pollution and firewater containment systems are designed to be installed with the direction of flow, enabling the valve to open inwards within the chamber.  This system is designed to fully seal and contain pollutants confined to the drain pipe only for extraction.

 

Our firewater & pollution containment FlapstopperTM family is designed to bring a site in line with several UK and EU Environmental Legislations, including EA PPG18 and CIRIA c763 Guidance on tertiary spill containment.

Our inlet-mounted pollution containment systems are suited for a range of drain & chamber shapes, sizes, and materials. 

 

CONE SHAPED SLEEVE

Fits circular chambers that do not have flat walls.

 

D-PROFILE BOTTOM

Fits chambers with existing drain inverts at the base of a chamber.

 

FLAT BOTTOM

Fits chambers with pipes that emerge from the wall above the base of a chamber. This enables the creation of a support pier.

This diagram is a classic example of where our Flapstopper inlet-mounted valve with d-profile bottom is most suited.

 

This type of pollution control valve is designed to open and close with the direction of flow and to be mounted on the invert of a chamber.

 

When the valve has been activated, it takes up to 5 seconds to fully close and seal, stopping any pollutants from traveling further. Unlike leaky penstocks, our pollution control valves are fully sealed and contain harmful substances for extraction.

Made from stainless steel, the toggle mechanism ensures that the valve is fully sealed, demonstrated by the sounds of the click at the end of the video.
